Experience

  • Software Developer, Thünen Institute - Rostock

    August 2020 - March 2021

    ▪ Built, tested, and debugged the source code of a new data entry program in Python (tools: pyQT5, psycopg2).

    ▪ Supported IT-admin in migrating databases from MySQL to PostgreSQL.

  • Research Associate, Industrial Ecology - University of Freiburg

    January 2017 - July 2020

    ▪ Calculated the environmental footprints of German household groups (using EXIOBASE) and assessed the distributional implications of global-level carbon tax based on price signal in Python (Monte-Carlo simulation).

    ▪ Modelled dynamic translog cost functions (GMM method) to estimate elasticities of substitution across sectors and to obtain the appropriate level of sector aggregation in R as the basis for a new translog-based CGE model.

    ▪ Assessed the distributional implications and quantified the additional revenues associated with an import-only border carbon adjustment (BCA) for 4,400 material-intensive commodity groups (collaborating with DIW Berlin).

    ▪ Co-taught an MSc level course on Environmentally-Extended Multi-Regional Input-Output (MRIO) Databases.

  • Visiting Scholar, Earth Institute - Columbia University

    December 2015 - February 2016

    ▪ Prepared questionnaire to gather public perception on Urban Sustainability Indicators (USIs) in Henan, China.

    ▪ Conducted statistical analysis (Chi-square tests, t-tests and Spearman’s rank correlation tests) in R to assess correlation between socio-demographic attributes and public perception of urban sustainability and USIs.

  • Research Student, DCEA Aalborg

    August 2015 - November 2015

▪Generated extensions matrix of social life cycle (S-LCA) inventories of labor-related impacts into EXIOBASE.

▪Collected 27,700 inventories of selected indicators from ILOSTAT database (129 sectors in 43 countries) and conducted appropriate linear regression and disaggregation procedures using R and Excel for unavailable data.

▪Modelled impact pathways from inventories into social impact categories in QALY (Quality-Adjusted Life Years).

Education

  • Joint European Master in Environmental Studies

    2014 - 2016

    ▪ Erasmus Mundus Master Program in UAB Spain, TUHH Germany, and Aalborg University, Denmark.

    ▪ Relevant courses: Ecological Economics, Industrial Ecology, Waste and Energy, Wastewater Systems.

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

    2007 - 2011

    ▪ Graduated cum laude (top 10% class) from Bandung Institute of Technology.

    ▪ Teaching assistant for courses (Chemical Engineering Math, Chemical Process Industries, and Chemical Reaction Kinetics and Catalysis) and lab assistant for module Membrane Technology.
